Nomad: Nigerian Youths Are Bleeding In The Lions Den And Shark Tanks Of Betting Platforms

Frontline Christian Rapper and Apologist Nomad wrote an enlightening and insightful article on the insidiousness of Sports Betting his social media handle. The post reads;

I was heart stroke yesterday when I heard of a guy by the name  DANIEL AYUBA MARK who we  happen to live in the same city of KADUNA, who committed suicide after he allegedly lost over one million five hundred thousand naria (₦1,500,000) to sport betting.

I have studied sport betting for about three years personally because of the menace I saw it was causing in the society , my mentor will always say "LEARN THE RULES BEFORE YOU PLAY THE GAME" either in business or what ever venture.

So, with the high rate of betting shops springing up, curiosity made me to pick interest on sport betting and how the book makers present their odds.

The betting platforms have different strategies;

VIRTUAL(kalu kalu)- where you play and get your money instantly within minutes if not seconds, if the stake plays, here you see motor-racing, dog racing and simulated soccer matches. I call this the (SNAKEPIT) you can stake(bet) as low as N100 that's the minimum wager.

LIVE BETTING - this is where you book upcoming live matches predict and wait for the outcome after 90minute of Game play and so many other rules just to mention but a few.

ODDs - this is the value you get for your money when you stake(bet) in fractions and demimals.

After a while of studying I noticed the whole system is rigged, when I mean rigged the betting company never lose at the end of the day because book-makers make the rules and the chances of beating them at their own game is almost an oddicious task, they are no charity organization they are out to make money too. since they make the rules is a probability of 1/100. I came to a conclusion the betting platforms are not for me or for anyone who value their life and hard earned money, being that I can't waste such money on a probability that is tempered with.
What I mean is this,  let's say we have 999 white balls and one black ball making it a 1,000 balls, what are the chances of you picking that  black ball from a pool of 999 white balls with your eyes close?

 Now you get my point, yeah? That's how the betting industry operates.
they control whatever outcome they want from their server, especially for the VIRTUAL BETTING, many of this kids don’t know there is something called threshold, threshold; is a period of time during the day, where the bookmakers turn the outcome to favour themselves and many other methods which I won’t mention here to avoid a lengthy article.

(1)Betting is not a game of luck that's why you always fail. It's a game of thorough precision and labourious research

(2) Don't bet without doing thorough study of the rules for atleast a year.

(3) Don't bet if you are not rich and you're obviously not doing it for fun.

(4) To successfully be a punter you need a minimum capital of atleast five million naira (N5,000,000) I know you are wandering why. I have my reasons.

Sport betting came into Nigeria in 1999 and since then sport betting industries have so far become a multimillion dollar company, for instance Bet9ja, Sportybet, BetKing but to mention a few  are worth $100+ million each. This betting platforms since their inception have been the down fall of more youths in Nigeria than the ones it has empowered.

Gambling is as addictive as any other substance that has been abused and the horror it causes most times is devastating,  it does alot of life long damage to the individual especially in the area of his/her finances, sometimes even to his/her extended family because they are now left to pay a backlog of debts he/she had incurred in some cases if you think how does this concerns me.

 I have seen people take loans to bet and lost, what about the students who use their school tuition and have to drop out of the university, I have heard of people who collected their life savings and retirement benefits and sacrificed it at the alter of betting.

Owen Feltham once said  " by gambling we lose both our time and treasure, two things most precious to the life of man.”

Betting has done more harm to people than good. 70% of lottery winners are normally back to square one after a year or two because of lack of proper financial mental development and reckless living.

Proverbs 13:11 says, “Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.”

Five Reasons Why Gambling is Wrong:
1. Because it denies the reality of God’s sovereignty (by affirming the existence of luck or chance).

(2) Don't bet without doing thorough study of the rules for atleast a year.

(3) Don't bet if you are not rich and you're obviously not doing it for fun.

(4) To successfully be a punter you need a minimum capital of atleast five million naira (₦5,000,000) I know you are wandering why. I have my reasons.

(5) Because it is built on the exploitation of others (often taking advantage of poor people who think they can gain instant wealth).” John MacArthur

The Nigerian Lottery Comission should take a stand against these and put more rules and regulations to govern her affairs, Because I see the future of Nigeria at stake, this is an attack on an entire generation, because individuals don't come out and mention it but I know people personally who play on their mobile phones, who don't go to betting outlet and  are dying in silence due to how harmful this has done to their lives and finances, thousands are in bad debts only making the bookmakers richer by the day.

Let me assure you that, Christ is the hope of this generation and what ever damage you have incurred, THERE IS A SYSTEM OF RESTORATION IN CHRIST

So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you. Job 2:25

For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease

Job 14:7
